Change of the constructive fire protection measures for ETICS with EPS insulation starting 1 January 2016.

The changes announced by the German Institute for Structural Engineering of the general building authority approval for flame-retardant ETICS with EPS insulation shall be enforced starting 01 January 2016.

On 27 May 2015, the German Institute for Structural Engineering published information on the improvement of the fire behaviour of ETICS with EPS insulating material classified as flame-retardant.

The additional design requirements in terms of flame-retardant ETICS have been incorporated in the general building authority approval and enforced on 1 January, 2016. A summary of additional design-related fire protection measures based on the object of the approval and the thickness of the insulation material can be found in the annex or in the building approvals.
