The processing of our systems is just that easy and smart. The assembly instructions apply to IDS Mineral as well as IDS Protect as both are processed in the same manner.
1. Substrate inspection wall
- Substrate has to be dry and clean (see structural condition analysis)
- Fully remove any existing wallpaper, paint coatings, plastering
- Check levelness of surface, correct with plaster if necessary. The mortar IDS Meistermörtel or standard lime-cement-based mortars are suitable for this purpose
2. Preparation of IDS Thermowinkel
- Measure distance to exterior wall (thickness of IDS + 12 cm IDS Thermowinkel + 1 cm adhesive mortar)
- Draw vertical marking
- Cut into plaster
- Remove plaster
- Alternative: Affix IDS Thermowinkel directly onto plaster with adhesive. Then plaster the 10 mm ledge
3. Substrate preparation floor
- Substrate preparation floor with inclusion of parquet flooring: Remove skirting boards, remove parquet flooring, remove insertion (if applicable)
- Substrate preparation wooden floor remains: Roll out and affix IDS hemp fleece insulating strips
4. Prepare for processing
- Adhesive: Measure water (Caparol IDS Meistermörtel 25 kg/container = 5 to 6 litres), mix adhesive by stirring
- Wait five minutes, then stir again
- Cut insulation boards
- Measure fitting piece and draw
- Saw fitting piece
- Important: Remove dust
5. Apply adhesive
- Apply mortar IDS Meistermörtel with 10-tooth trowel on the back of the board, prepare two insulating board stacks simultaneously
- PLEASE NOTE: always apply the adhesive IDS Aktiv Kleber on the coated side
- Bars perpendicular to the shorter side of the board
6. Apply adhesive to insulation board/to wooden beam
- Place the coated insulation boards at the respective position and move them approx. 2 mm to the side by applying a slight amount of pressure ("float into position")
- Notch the insulation board and adjust, approx. 5 mm gap between the board and wooden beam
- If the substrate is sufficiently load bearing, the IDSystems do not need to be fastened with anchor dowels.
7. Electrical installation
- Electrical installation (electrical cables are available on site)
- Apply IDS electroquader, shorten to insulation board thickness
- Apply adhesive
- Apply electrical apply
- Apply adhesive to full surface
8. Reveal insulation
- Measure reveal
- Cut IDS reveal insulation boards to size
- Apply adhesive
- Float full surface into place
- Plasterstop profile: apply with adhesive to window frame
10. Incorporate IDS Thermowinkel
- Incorporate textile panels on interior insulating surface and connecting interior wall
11. Alternatively: IDS mineral insulation wedge
- Put coated IDS mineral insulation wedge into place
- Move to the side approx. 2 cm by applying a slight amount of pressure
12. Sand the insulating board
- Adjust height differences between insulation boards by sanding
- Sand down protrusions of the reveal insulation boards
- Remove dust from the insulation board
- Corner guard: Apply mortar in the corner area, apply corner guard and incorporate fabric.
13. Connection wooden beam
Prior to reinforcement, the gap between the insulation board and the wooden beam must be defibrated with hemp-felt insulation strips and the wool pushed back into the gap with the aid of e.g. a ruler.

14. Reinforcement layer/anchoring
- Apply IDS Meistermörtel with the 10-tooth trowel to the insulation board surface and comb, incorporate fabric
- Fabric edges must be with 10 cm overlap (usage 1.1 m²/m)
- Anchoring: Only with tiles as surface finish
- Place 4 plate anchor dowels through the fabric and fill
15. Finish plaster
- Apply textured plaster on the entire surface
- Pull of the reach grain size
- Depending on the type of plaster, make use of a steel trowel, plastic disk or a PU board for structuring or sheaving
- Make sure that grain is distributed evenly
- Pictures and lightweight loads up to 3 kg can be fastened with a spiral anchor dowel directly in the insulation board. Heavy loads must be fastened by means of an anchor to the substrate.
