Primer / Undercoat
The basis of a coating is the proper primer. It fulfils various requirement profiles: As a bonding agent it ensure good adhesion between the substrate and the following intermediate and top coat. Depending on the substrate, its filling properties provide more homogeneous surfaces. For metal surfaces, the primer serves as corrosion protection, on wood is works as a barrier function or impregnates – an advantage particularly for exterior application.
